Greetings Church!

The older I get, the more I think am convinced of several key truths.
1. I don’t have the answer to every question on life.
2. There is nothing new under the sun.

Those two ideas work together, believe it or not. I like to think of it like this: Because I don’t have the answer to every question of life, I look to others – to the Bible, to history, to experience – to help guide me toward the truth I long for.

You see, whatever I might be going through has been gone through before by someone. Sure they maybe didn’t have the same gadgets, the same friends, or the same specific set of variables, but that doesn’t matter! Those things aren’t the reason for my situation or for my feeling of lost-ness or hurt. Those things can’t make me feel weak or guilt ridden. They are just things! No our situations, whatever they might be, are all the same while being completely different, and can be adequately put into one simple sentence.

We all need saving.

We need to be saved. We need to be loved. We need proof that our temporal situation is nothing in view of the grand scheme of this life. We need to know that someone is there with us, on our side! We all, at some point, powerless to overcome our situations, come to the end of our ropes, and we look up in hopes that someone will save us!

“You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for [us]” ~ Romans 5:6

Right when you need it, Christ is there. When life hurts and when our situations are crazy, Jesus tells us, “I’ve been there.” At just the right time, Jesus reaches out to us, and reminds us that we are not alone.

As we look off into the possibilities of this new year, I encourage you to lean on God’s love for you in 2017. Make Him the cornerstone of your life and your thought. When you don’t have the answers, seek Him out. When you hurt, don’t run away from Christ, run to Him.
Run to Him, church, because, no matter your situation, in Him you are made new.

So I guess there is something new under the sun after all – and that is the life that He has waiting for you.

“…Just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” ~Romans 6:4

Here’s to a new year in Christ for all of us! Happy New Year!
