Our Ministries

Here at Mt Calvary, we believe ministry happens where you are.  If we are honest, when we look around we can see many places where God calls us to serve Him.  We consider that to be our mission here at MCBC.  We aim to bring Christ with us wherever we go, and try to let the light of His love shine!

There are many more opportunities to find your place in ministry than could ever be listed on a website!  Our goal is to help you find your strength, to train you to take full advantage of that strength, and to use it to reach others.  There is no program, no 5 step plan to success; but rather “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another” (Proverbs 27:17).

Our ministries extend into the town through our ecumenical efforts with other churches here in Valdese, our contacts in our neighborhoods, jobs, and schools, and our as far as our reach can extend with every tool we have.  We believe that we are called to share the Gospel with all people!  Beginning in our homes, and reaching out to the ends of the earth!  (Acts 1:8)

We hope you will join us as we reach out to the world in love!

Sunday school

Discipleship is such an important part of our spiritual growth.  No matter your age, or background, we have a class for you.

All of our classes are friendly, and safe places in which you can express doubt, share your fears, or revel in joy!  We pray that you can find a place to call home, and that those in class with you will become some of your closest friends and confidants as you grow in faith.

Youth

We have a wonderful and energetic group of youth lead by Lisa Murray and Peyton Murray.  The youth participate in our morning worship, mission trips, Caswell, lock-ins, service projects, concerts, and much more!

Here at MCBC, our youth are more than our future; they are the church.  They are integral to God’s plan for this church and this community.

Our Youth meet Wednesday’s at 6:15, Sunday mornings at 9:45, and Sunday Evenings at 5:00.

Music

Paul tells us in Ephesians to, “Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord,” and that is what we strive to do here at MCBC.  Our musical offerings are varied; from praise songs sung with guitar, to hymns with organ, we always try our best to praise God through our blended musical offerings in order to help facilitate worship for everyone.  “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!”

Our choir rehearses every Wednesday evening at 7:00.

Community service

Perhaps our most important ministry, our members are active servants in our community.  From civic groups to volutneering at schools and with other service organizations, our church family can be found daily living out our mission, the greatest commandment, loving God and neighbor, and showing that love through our service.

We truly believe that, like Jesus, we were not called to be served, but to serve.
